Mommy & Me Mini Sessions

In Studio

This year, we are doing in studio mommy & me mini sessions. They are 30 minutes long and we promise to get you some beautiful photographs. May is also Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month. We have decided that we would like to donate 50% of the session fee to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Our goal is to reach $500 to donate to the foundation, which means we need at least 10-11 shoots. We have also been in touch with a family with a little girl who has CF. She will be getting a discounted session, and she has allowed us to visit her home to capture a “Day in the Life” of how they handle living with CF. They have agreed to let us tell their story. I am excited, and blessed to be able to work with them and we will be posting and sharing this to spread awareness.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.

In people with CF, mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene cause the CFTR protein to become dysfunctional. When the protein is not working correctly, it’s unable to help move chloride — a component of salt — to the cell surface. Without the chloride to attract water to the cell surface, the mucus in various organs becomes thick and sticky.

In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps germs, like bacteria, leading to infections, inflammation, respiratory failure, and other complications. For this reason, minimizing contact with germs is a top concern for people with CF.
