EASTER: ARTHURS

ARTHURS EASTER

The other day I had the opportunity to photograph two beautiful siblings. The family wanted updated photos and they took advantage of the Easter promotion I had going on. They came into the studio on a Friday night to get some photos with our Easter Set. The little boy was super calm, easy to photograph, and super cute! He smiled good and even helped get his sister to sit for some photos. He showed how great he is as a helper and big brother. The little girl was not so easy. She just wanted to play and run around. She did not want to smile or participate in the session. We were able to get some great photos of her by the end of the session. She just needed a little chocolate to get energized, happy, and excited! Sometimes patience works out for the best photographic outcomes. Many clients have said that I'm super laid back and patient with their children. Here are some photos from this great shoot!!

Sophia: A CF Story

Sophia, The Warrior

On November 15, 2016 the world welcomed this little warrior to the world. Sophia Claire Taylor was Born at 7 lbs 1 oz at 40 weeks. What should have been a perfectly "normal" birthing experience was anything but. After getting stuck in the birth canal, and an emergency C section, Sophia spent a few weeks in the NICU at Buffalos Childrens Hospital. Sophia proved herself to be quite a fighter, & that fight continues every day! Sophia has cystic fibrosis, a lifelong disease effecting the lungs, pancreas, digestive system and more.

There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe.

Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. Years ago the average life expectancy was at best, 12 years old. Today it is not unusual for a CFer to live into their 30s or more. Progress is being made daily, but CF is still taking young lives far too often.

To maintain as healthy & "normal" life as possible, Sophia has to take special enzymes with any food or drink, to help her pancreas function properly. She also has a machine, a vibrating vest, to help clear her lungs. She wears the vest daily for 30 minutes, mornings & evenings. She also has a nebulizer which forces a medicine directly into her lungs, to help keep her breathing easy for her. That is 10 minutes for each treatment.

Additionally, Sophia is in a gymnastics class for 2 year olds...the activity is especially important for anyone with CF, and vital to keeping the lungs clear & functioning properly. Sophia is fighting every day to beat this hideous disease, and she is the true definition of warrior! At 2 years old, Sophia is a very happy & energetic , beautiful little girl~ waiting to teach world a thing or two.

***You can donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by booking a Mommy & Me mini session with me! 50% of your session fee will be donated to the CF Foundation to help those who are fighting just like Sophia.***

Mommy & Me CF Foundations

Mommy & Me Mini Sessions

In Studio

This year, we are doing in studio mommy & me mini sessions. They are 30 minutes long and we promise to get you some beautiful photographs. May is also Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month. We have decided that we would like to donate 50% of the session fee to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Our goal is to reach $500 to donate to the foundation, which means we need at least 10-11 shoots. We have also been in touch with a family with a little girl who has CF. She will be getting a discounted session, and she has allowed us to visit her home to capture a "Day in the Life" of how they handle living with CF. They have agreed to let us tell their story. I am excited, and blessed to be able to work with them and we will be posting and sharing this to spread awareness.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.

In people with CF, mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene cause the CFTR protein to become dysfunctional. When the protein is not working correctly, it’s unable to help move chloride -- a component of salt -- to the cell surface. Without the chloride to attract water to the cell surface, the mucus in various organs becomes thick and sticky.

In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps germs, like bacteria, leading to infections, inflammation, respiratory failure, and other complications. For this reason, minimizing contact with germs is a top concern for people with CF.

Mother's Day Botanical Mini Session

Nicole & Adequin: Mother's Day

Location: Buffalo Botanical Gardens

”My mother is my root, my foundation. She planted the seed that I base my life on, and that is the belief that the ability to achieve starts in your mind.” – Michael Jordan

Nicole and her son, Adequin have a very special bond. I am so happy they came out to Botanical Gardens to model for me. I had  photographed Adequin in the fall and realized then, that their bond is beautiful. I asked them to model for my Botanical Gardens Mother's Day Sessions because I knew I could capture images that would illustrate how incredible their bond is, promoting this special event.

Why Maternity?

Angela

"Before you were born I carried you under my heart. From the moment you arrived in this world until the moment I leave it, I will always carry you in my heart." - Mandy Harrison

We had the opportunity to photograph Angela's maternity session in the studio a couple weeks ago. She is a Buffalo Model that wanted photos to announce her pregnancy to the world. We spend a lot of time making sure she had the best photos to show her friends and family. We want to share a few of our favorite photos from the shoot.

Why should you book a maternity session?

  1. Every pregnancy is different. It is a milestone in your life. It is very important to document this precious time in your life. It does not matter is it's your first child or your fifth, take the opportunity to capture that beautiful pregnancy glow.
  2. Use this day to spoil yourself! It is important to feel your best. Get your hair and makeup done, go buy that gown you've been looking at for months now... You will have these photos forever so make them perfect!
  3. This is a great opportunity to share precious moments with your child, as they grow older. This is the chance to create once in a lifetime memories. When the child is older, they will be amazed to see the lovely photos of their mom, while they were growing inside of you.
  4. A maternity session is a great way to bond with your partner, as it allows you to stop and appreciate them. Getting dad involved can help him bond with the baby and create extra special memories. If you have children already, bring them along. This allows the siblings to bond and appreciate this exciting time.
  5. The possibilities are endless! This is your chance to get creative. Here at Wilmack Photography, we will go above and beyond to create beautiful images to share with your friends and family. Whether you are looking for a stylized shoot or a simple studio session, we are excited to be apart of this experience.

Who's Behind the Camera

Richele Musall is our new, talented photographer taking over the day to day studio activities.  In 2017, she received her BFA in Studio Art with a specialization in Photography at Cazenovia College. Throughout college, she became interested in the field of Forensic photography. She began to study the separation between Forensic and Fine art photography for her Senior Thesis. From there she began thinking about the way in which she records images in her own portrait photography business. She can determine what a person should look like in a portrait and how to adjust to make it a piece of art, telling a unique narrative. Clients are more than satisfied with her compelling imagery.

What will Richele bring to Wilmack Photo?

Richele has many strengths in the field of portrait photography. She will be introducing more stylized portraiture and has plans for adding newborn, cake smash sessions, and milestones into the mix. She also has experience with wedding photography and hopes to expand upon the wedding market. She has exciting plans in the works for monthly mini sessions to not only bring in new clients but to showcase her talent and give clients a joyful experience.
